AdSense is a Gold Mine [Part One]

First off, most internet marketers do not publicly announce the exact final destination, only the journey. Do not ask me “what is your website?”. All I will say is that I saw a trend online and in the news and built a forum around it. In October I made $3300 from Adsense and direct advertisements. This is chump change. I know people making $60k/month on AdSense alone. I will get there soon. 2012! YouTube money! Continue reading

Nike Plus to De-Flash Their Website

nike-plus-html5-flashI have been a member of Nike+ for over 3 years with around 950 miles recorded. This number is low compared to some other users, however, there is a reason other than laziness and lack of motivation. The website has undergone numerous changes. Not improvements, changes. It is slow, clunky and doesn’t work in some browsers. Take a wild guess which technology it is built on.

The site has a shitload of Flash. From the login pop up windows, to the data visualization elements. The site rarely works, which is a shame because I love the new Nike+ GPS application. The old versions with sensors and pedometers were a pain in the ass and unreliable. Between the hardware and software issues, I stopped using Nike plus for a year. Continue reading

David B Design | Summit Art Space

david-b-designs-akron-art-space-3My good friend and old neighbor in Cuyahoga Falls, David Bryan Lile is an amazing artist/photographer. We have done some work together on the internet and always have a good time geeking out about technology.

He currently has an exhibit at Summit Art Space in downtown Akron, OH. Bryan specializes in Urban Art. He captures the raw grit of North East Ohio cities such as Akron and Cleveland. His very distinct interpretation on these urban cityscapes is captivating and inspiring. If you’re in the Akron area, be sure to check out his exhibit as well as other awesome works of art in this space.

Blake Urmos Panama Bocas del Toro

My journey Bocas del Toro was quite the experience. I took a very unpleasant route there (more on that later). However once I arrived, the next 8 days were absolutely amazing, Here are some pictures: Continue reading

Bocas Villas Panorama | Photomerge

This was taken with a Canon Rebel T2i with a EF 50mm 1.8 lens. I took 2 series of 7 photos. The first series was left to right of the sky and roofs of the villas. Second series was left to right of the bottom half of the villas. I imported them into Lightroom 3 and sent them to Photoshop Photomerge from Lightroom. The final result was quite impressive and I only had to do a bit of retouching where Photomerge didn’t stitch seamlessly.

Nexus S Unboxing and Review

After a couple days of use, the Nexus S is showing its strengths and weaknesses. Let’s start with the pros.

Pros: An amazing Super AMOLED 4″ display that in my opinion trumps the iPhone 4 display. It is running pure Gingerbread (Android 2.3). Decent battery life which lasted all day of heavy use (Google Talk, Foursquare, Twitter, phone calls, GPS, Navigation, WiFi, Camera, Angry Birds Rio). The 5MP camera also rivals the iPhone 4. I also like the way the curved glass feels against my face. Continue reading

Cheap Camera Stabilizer For Overseas/International Travel [Part One]

Problem: Traveling by air to Central America requires light luggage and items that do not look like pipe bombs. Also, camera stabilizers are expensive and bulky.

Solution: Research the area you are visiting for cheap/free parts to build your camera stabilizer. Build the prototype to spec before you leave based on said researched parts. Continue reading

Getting the Nexus S for Zero Dollars Through Best Buy

I have been attempting to purchase the Nexus S through Best Buy since it came out. It has been a ridiculous experience. The first step to getting this phone for free is enduring this bullshit.

After you manage to place the order without assassinating a blue shirt, you wait… and wait… wait a little more… wait 4 days after the ETA and begin to wonder, where the $#@% is my phone? Continue reading

Beginners Guide to Monetizing Your WordPress Blog

I am going to cover the very basics to get you started with a WordPress blog and how to monetize it. First off, blogs are easy to setup, but require months of dedication and loneliness to monetize. If you already have some social media experience and are actively engaging the community, then the road to blog monetization will not be as long.

Focus: Pick something to focus on, preferably a niche or even better, a hyper-local niche. For example: Coin Collectors in Galax West Virginia.  A very specific topic is easy to dominate. You also need to be very knowledgeable and passionate about the subject. Go read Gary Vaynerchuk’s Crush It! to get excited. Continue reading

Getting Passionate About Google Calendar: Breaking Down Barriers

I frequently joke about leaving Google Calendar open on a computer and it’s magical ability of demonstrating how “busy” I am. So many colors, so much confusion. While this is somewhat true [leaving Google Calendar open constantly], it is a core tool within the company I work for.

Google Apps mainly drives our company email. No one used Google Calendar, that is of course until one of Google’s greatest salesman (me) came along. The secret sauce is Passion. If you give an uncertain, confidence-lacking demonstration of Google Calendar, no one will care, and more importantly, no one will use it. You have to get all up in there face and explain how their lives will change forever.

You can share calendars, make rec Continue reading
